Arm Lift Surgery vs Liposuction for Saggy Arms or Bingo Wings

We’ve all heard of the dreaded Bingo Wings or Saggy Arms – where the skin and muscle has sagged on the back of the upper arm, so that a simple gesture of waving to a friend becomes a traumatic experience as the flap of skin swings in the air.

Bingo Wings

What are Bingo Wings ?

According to urban dictionary, Bingo Wings are the hanging fat that swings from an obese woman’s upper arms when they are raised and shaken while shouting “Bingo!” during a competition.

It is this dislike of the ‘Bingo Wings‘ which has perhaps led to the trend for the upper arm-lift.

In America in 2019, 19,596 patients, about 95 percent of them women had upper arm lift surgery and it’s gaining in popularity in other countries too. Many more had liposuction on their arms

Officially called a brachioplasty (a surgery that involves making an incision from the armpit to the elbow, usually along the back of the arm, to remove excess skin), the number of procedures was up 4,378 percent since 2000 in America, when only about 300 women opted for it.

Many people don’t realise that liposuction can be performed on many parts of the body – not just the traditional abdominal area. is designed to contour and improve the shape of your body and is best suited to people who are a healthy weight but have stubborn areas of fat they can’t get rid of with diet and exercise alone. Traditional surgical liposuction is done under general anaesthetic and involves a lengthy recovery period, however there are now new forms of liposuction, such as liposculpture, which can be done under local anaesthetic and involve less down time.
